Legal Administrative Assistant – Medical Malpractice Group

Summary of Position 

We work in a collaborative, team-based environment, where service to our clients and communities and camaraderie within our office are values shared by everyone at the firm. Responsibilities include preparing correspondence and complex legal documents; serving and filing pleadings using state, federal, and appellate court filing systems; opening and closing files; organizing and maintaining paper and electronic legal files; scheduling travel; maintaining case calendars and deadlines; answering phones and directing incoming medical malpractice calls; trial preparation and meeting setup, case-related scheduling, including depositions and mediations; assisting with CLE compliance and reporting; administrative support related to memberships and associations; and other administrative duties as assigned. This position interacts with clients and attorneys, collaborates with other LAAs, is eager to be a team player, and will further the day-to-day workings of an efficient and friendly office environment.

 

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of litigation experience in a law firm or corporate law department.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Proficiency and comfort with Federal and State electronic court filing systems and other service methods.
  • Organized with ability to update and maintain confidential files and other legal document management systems to ensure accurate file management and easy access to materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail, initiative, and a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work with others to arrange travel, prepare itineraries, and catering.
  • Adept at processing expense reports, invoices, and time entry.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Dedicated to working with others in a team-oriented, positive atmosphere.
  • Self-motivated problem-solver able to maintain assigned activities and seek out new ones on a proactive basis.
