Ricoh
v.
Pitney Bowes Inc.

Mike, Jan and Katie were trial counsel for Pitney Bowes in defending against a patent infringement suit by Ricoh. Ricoh alleged that Pitney Bowes infringed 18 claims from 4 Ricoh patents.  All of the claims were directed to Pitney Bowes’ postage meters, its main business at the time. On November 30, 2006, a federal jury in New Jersey returned a verdict for Pitney Bowes, finding that every asserted claim of the Ricoh patents was invalid for anticipation.  The jury’s verdict was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit.
